Released as part of the 1985 Super Powers Collection, Steppenwolf brought Darkseid's legendary military commander to the line in his blue-and-red armor complete with horned helmet and battle axe. Activating the figure's action feature swung the axe into a powerful attack, making him one of the few figures designed around a weapon-based play feature. Steppenwolf was also offered as an early mail-away promotion during the first year of the line, adding another layer of interest for collectors seeking every packaging variation.
