Overview
Released in 1984, Kenner’s Super Powers Collection Batmobile brought Batman’s iconic vehicle to the toy aisle with bold styling and multiple action features. Designed to seat both Batman and Robin, it remains one of the most recognizable and sought-after vehicles in the original Super Powers line.
Released in 1984 as part of the first series of Kenner’s Super Powers Collection, the Batmobile was one of three vehicles available during the line’s debut year, alongside the Supermobile and Lex-Soar 7. Designed for the approximately 4½-inch Super Powers figures, the vehicle seats Batman and Robin side by side and translates the classic comic-book Batmobile into the bold, streamlined design language that defined Kenner’s DC line. Its dark blue body, orange-tinted cockpit windshields, large rear bat fins, and distinctive bat-themed wheels make it one of the most immediately recognizable vehicles in the entire collection.
Like the Super Powers figures themselves, the Batmobile was built around mechanical action features. Controls located in the cockpit operate a front Bat-A-Ram battering ram, flip-up Bat-Eye headlights, and a spring-loaded rear Bat-Clawdesigned to capture villain figures. These features were not late additions—the surviving hand-built Kenner conceptual model already incorporated the extending front ram, rear capture claw, and movable headlights, providing an interesting look at how closely the production toy followed Kenner’s original development concept.

Notes
For collectors, condition and functionality are especially important. The Bat-Claw, front ram, headlights, and cockpit controls should all be checked for proper operation, while the orange cockpit pieces and original decals are common areas to inspect for damage or wear.
Boxed examples may also include the original cardboard inserts, paperwork, and instructions, all of which add considerably to the appeal of a complete example. With its distinctive styling, multiple working features, and close association with the first year of the Super Powers Collection, the 1984 Batmobile remains one of the line’s most popular and display-worthy vehicles.
