Figure

Brainiac

Kenner Super Powers Collection · Series 1 · 1984

Notes

Brainiac is the most visually distinctive figure in the entire Super Powers Collection — a vacuum-metalized chrome skeleton android based on George Pérez's redesign of the character, unlike anything else on toy pegs in 1984. His Power Action Computer Kick is activated by squeezing his arms together, sending his leg forward in a mechanical strike. The chrome finish and skeletal limb design with metallic-looking circuitry details make him a striking display piece, but they are also his weakness: the thin arms are notoriously fragile and the vac-metal plating flakes with handling.

A 16-page full-color mini-comic shipped inside the bubble.

Collector's Notes:

Todd Klein redesigned the Brainiac logo (link)

Loose value skews higher than his production numbers would suggest, purely because so many examples have broken arms or heavily flaked chrome. Always inspect the shoulder joints and the plating on high points before buying.
